-- Opposition parties have slammed the decision by the SA Police Service (SAPS) to offer presidential protection service to former African Union Commission Chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

They have described this decision as illegal, unconstitutional and "an appalling abuse of police resources". (City Press)

-- The office of Deputy Police Minister Bongani Mkongi has described the robbery at a Cape Town army base as an attack on the state's authority.

No arrests have been made following the incident in which nine rifles, ammunition and a soldier's cellphone were stolen at the 9 Infantry Battalion Base in Khayelitsha on Friday. (Eyewitness News)

-- Hundreds of people from Zimbane villages have illegally invaded land outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
