An attack on a convoy of prisoners on Wednesday morning in Chadian capital N'Djamena killed nine prisoners and one security guard, the country's chief prosecutor said.

Two people were also injured in the attack, said Louapambe Mahouli Bruno who condemned the attack.

"Investigation is being carried out regarding to the fleeing attackers and to the prisoners dispersed as a result of this attack," said Bruno.

The prisoners, 93 in total, were intercepted while being transfered from N'Djamena to the Koro Toro prison in the north of the country.

Bruno said a judicial inquiry was also opened by the N'Djamena prosecutor's office to identify the perpetrators. Endit
