At least three soldiers, a policeman and five bandits were killed in a clash broke out between government forces and the Islamist extremists on Tuesday in the central Philippine Bohol province,the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said.

General Eduardo Ano, the AFP's chief of staff, said in a statement that government troops and police "encountered a group of heavily armed lawless elements in Bohol" around 7 a.m. local time (0000 GMT) on Tuesday. (Philippines-Military Clash)

KIEV -- Two people were killed and 13 others injured when a car collided with a passenger bus in eastern Ukraine on Monday, authorities said Tuesday.

The accident took place at about 5:00 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) in Balakleya town in Kharkov region, when the car veered into the opposite lane and rammed into the bus carrying 18 passengers, the National Police said in a statement. (Ukraine-Traffic Accident)

ANKARA -- One person was killed and four others injured in an explosion that occurred at a riot police building in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir on Tuesday, the governor's office announced.

An explosion occurred during the repair of an armoured vehicle in the Diyarbakir Provincial Security Directorate compound in Baglar district, parts of the roof of the building have collapsed, local Dogan News Agency reported. (Turkey-Explosion)

CAIRO -- Egypt's parliament approved on Tuesday a three-month state of emergency, two days after church bombings killed at least 45 people.
