Two killed, 13 injured in car-bus collision in east Ukraine

Two people were killed and 13 others injured when a car collided with a passenger bus in eastern Ukraine on Monday, authorities said Tuesday.

The accident took place at about 5:00 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) in Balakleya town in Kharkov region, when the car veered into the opposite lane and rammed into the bus carrying 18 passengers, the National Police said in a statement.

The 37-year-old driver of the car and a passenger died on the spot, while the bus driver and 12 passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries of varying severity, it said.

It remains unknown why the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle. An investigation is underway.

According to official statistics, 362 people have lost their lives in over 25,700 traffic accidents on Ukraine's roads in the first two months of the current year. Endi
