-- State Security Minister David Mahlobo has still not seen the intelligence document containing claims that former finance minister Pravin Gordhan was plotting against the president with international banks, he said on Friday.

"We have said on record we will look at it," he said at a briefing meant to provide information on Friday's marches against President Jacob Zuma. (News24)

-- South Africa has suffered a serious setback with downgrades from rating agencies and it will take a punishing toll, particularly on the poor.

On Friday Fitch lowered both the foreign and local currencies of SA to sub-investment grade. This followed a downgrade by Standard & Poor's (S&P) of South Africa's foreign debt. Moody's responded by announcing a review pending downgrade of South Africa. (Fin24)
