Slovak army confirms stolen ammunition

Xinhua, April 7, 2017 Adjust font size:

Unspecified ammunition was stolen from the Slovak Armed Forces' stocks in Western Slovakia, Parliamentary Vice-chairman Andrej Hrnciar and former defense minister Lubomir Galko reported after a parliamentary defense and security committee session on Friday.

"The missing ammunition of six boxes containing hand grenades and one box with reactive anti-tank grenades was stolen. Defense minister Peter Gajdos presented us with a detailed report on what happened, on measures that have been adopted, and how the relevant authorities are proceeding in the case," confirmed Hrnciar, adding that no specifics would be presented before there was a current inventory check of ammunition stocks carried out throughout Slovakia.

Galko stressed that the situation was worse than he initially thought, adding that he was almost certain the ammunition was stolen by someone who had access to the stocks. Endit
