Xinhua, April 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian customs at the Kalotina checkpoint near the country's border with Serbia have seized 3,720 kg of acetic anhydride, a critical heroin precursor, officials said here on Thursday.

The precursor, filled in 178 cans, was found hidden in three trucks carrying apples from Serbia to Iraq, the National Customs Agency (NCA) said in a statement.

According to the NCA, the amount would be enough to produce 1.5 tons of heroin.

In 2016, the NCA seized drugs and precursors totaling 3,721 kg, 5,143 tablets and 3 liters. Endit
