Kenya teams seek to dominate Africa women's club volleyball in Tunisia

Kenya's representatives to the Africa women's club championships Kenya Prisons will be keen to end their decade long jinx by lifting this year's crown when the tournament starts in Monastir, Tunisia on Thursday.
The team, coached by Japheth Munala left for Tunis on Wednesday, buoyant of securing a win in the one week tournament.
The winner of the tournament earns a slot to compete at the qualifying rounds of the World Club Championships, which will be held in Japan in September.
"We have our eyes cast on the title. It has been a while since we won, but we now have a good team and are willing to take on whatever challenge, especially from teams in Egypt and Tunisia, who have dominated the competition of late," said Munala.
Kenya Pipeline have lifted the African Women Volleyball Club trophy a record seven times. Kenya will also have a second team, Prisons who have lifted the title five times.
For this year's event, more than ten clubs are expected to compete for the bragging rights as Africa's queen. The event will mark the 27th anniversary of the games and starts April 6-16.
The Women's African Volleyball Clubs Championship is the most prestigious women's volleyball competition for clubs in Africa organized by Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) since 1986. Endit
