Tokyo stocks rise in morning on Wall Street's solid performance, yen's easing

Tokyo stocks rose on Wednesday morning as Wall Street's positive showing overnight coupled with a halt in the yen's appreciation made for a relatively upbeat market mood.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 51.43 points, or 0.27 percent, from Tuesday to 18,861.68.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 0.90 points, or 0.06 percent, to 1,505.44.

Precision instrument, land transportation and wholesale issues comprised notable advancers ahead of the morning break. Enditem
