Indian coast guard ship arrives in Sri Lanka on goodwill training visit

The Indian Coast Guard Ship "Shoor" arrived at the Colombo Port on Tuesday on a goodwill training visit, the navy media unit said in a statement.

The ship was ceremonially received by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions and customs on arrival at the port.

Upon her arrival, Commanding Officer of the ship Deputy Inspector General Surendra Singh Dasila paid a courtesy call on Commander of the Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Niraja Atigala.

The visiting naval crew of the ship is scheduled to take part in several training sessions and a wide range of activities organized by the Sri Lanka Navy during their stay in Colombo.

To strengthening mutual friendship, naval personnel of both countries are scheduled to attend several friendly sport events during the visit, the navy statement said.

The ship is due to leave Sri Lanka on April 8. Endite
