An explosion hit a warehouse of an oil company in Anqing City, east China's Anhui Province, on Sunday afternoon. Rescuers are still verifying if the blast had caused casualties, the city government said.

Fire caused by the explosion at around 5:20 p.m. was put out at 8:10 p.m., according to latest information from the municipal government.

Measures have been taken to control water pollution caused by the explosion and monitoring showed that air around the warehouse was not polluted, the government said.

Fire fighters have been sent out for rescue work. Cause of the explosion is under investigation.

The warehouse is operated by Wanhua Oil Products Company at Anqing's Daguan development zone. Endi
