Swiss railways reports second derailment in week

Xinhua, March 29, 2017 Adjust font size:

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) reported that a train derailed shortly after leaving Berne's train station on Wednesday, a week after a similar incident left seven people injured in Luzern.

According to a statement issued by SBB, 90 people were traveling on the train that links the three Swiss towns of Thun, Berne and Burgdorf.

Initial reports suggest that no one was injured in the accident that occurred a minute after the train departed from the Swiss capital's railway station in the afternoon.

It remains unclear as to why the train derailed or whether the train tracks were damaged. SBB warned that railway traffic has been affected as a result of the incident. Endit
