Britain on Wednesday officially started the historic process to leave the European Union (EU) as the letter signed by Prime Minister Theresa May is sent to leaders of the bloc.

FARAH, Afghanistan -- A total of 47 armed militants have been killed and more than 50 others injured as government forces stormed Taliban positions in the western Farah province on Wednesday, a senior army official in the province Raz Mohammad Oryakhil said.

"As the result of well-coordinated operations launched against Taliban positions in Bala Block district of Farah province early today morning so far 47 rebels have been killed and 51 others injured," Oryakhil told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Militants)

DAMASCUS -- Five people were killed and six others wounded Wednesday when an explosive device ripped through a communal bus in Syria's central city of Homs, state news agency SANA reported.

The explosive device tore through the bus at the Siteen Street in the Zahra'a neighborhood, which is inhabited by minority Alawite sect, to whom the ruling elite in Syria belongs. (Syria-Explosion)
