Bahrain court sentences 2 to death for killing policemen

Bahrain's court sentenced two to death on Wednesday for the murder of two policemen in 2015.

They are among 24 Bahrainis suspects, in which five were sentenced to life in jail, 15 were sentenced from 10 to 6 months jail terms and two were acquitted. The nationality of 8 of them were revoked.

Terror Crime Prosecution Chief Attorney General Ahmed Al-Hamadi said in a statement that the suspects were convicted of killing the two police personnel in a bus blast in Sitra, one of the disturbed areas in Bahrain.

Last week another three were given the capital punishments for causing injuries to police personnel in a blast north the country last year.

Bahrain executed in January three Bahrainis for the deaths of three police officers in 2014.

The tough punishments are part of many efforts that the country is taking to curb violence by some extremists. Endit
