Saudi police kill 2 fugitives, arrest 4 in eastern province

Xinhua, March 29, 2017 Adjust font size:

Saudi police have killed two fugitives and arrested four in a raid in the eastern province, interior minister tweeted on Wednesday.

The raid took place on Tuesday evening in a farm in Al Awamiyah, which is one of the disturbed areas that are highly populated by Shiite citizens in Al Qatif region.

Two suspects were killed when they resisted and shot at the forces.

The ministry confirmed that all six suspects are Saudis and wanted in terrorist activities.

The police also confiscated bomb-making materials and weapons from the farm.

Rioting, vandalism and other forms of violence are common in the region by Shiite local youth who demand more rights in the conservative Sunni state. Endit
