Ghana has been chosen to house a regional pediatric cancer center to serve patients in Africa, the presidency said in a release on Tuesday.
The 94-bed hospital to be constructed by the Eugene Gasana Jr. Foundation will also serve as a center of excellence in cancer care in Africa.
Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo said the center would bridge the gap in the field of cancer care of children in Ghana and on the continent.
Tanya Trippett, President of the Foundation, said the center would also serve as a teaching facility for medical professionals in Africa, with the infrastructure of the hospital also designed to meet high international standards for delivery of quality cancer care for children.
The project is expected to be completed in two years. Endit
