Xinhua, March 5, 2017 Adjust font size:

China will strengthen its maritime and air defense as well as border control amid efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and security, according to a government work report to be delivered by Premier Li Keqiang at the annual parliamentary session Sunday.

The country will continue to deepen military reforms, while upholding the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China over the armed forces, according to the report available to the media before the opening of the session.

It will ensure the organization of important operations related to countering terrorism, safeguarding stability, international peacekeeping, and providing escort in high seas, according to the report.

China will enhance its capacity of innovation in defense-related science and technology and step up development of advanced logistics and equipment, it said, adding that military-civilian integration will be intensified. Endi
