Urgent: China to invest 800 bln yuan in railway construction

China plans to invest 800 billion yuan (about 116.11 billion U.S. dollars) in railway construction and 1.8 trillion yuan in highway and waterway projects this year, according to a government work report available to the media before the annual parliamentary session Sunday.

Construction on another 15 major water conservation projects will begin, and work on major rail transport, civil aviation, and telecommunications infrastructure projects will be sped up, it said. Endi
