China actively participates in international affairs: spokesperson

Xinhua, March 4, 2017 Adjust font size:

China values the current international order with the United Nations at the center and actively participates in international affairs, a spokesperson for the top legislature annual session said Saturday.

China is a founder and beneficiary of the current global governance system with the UN at the center, Fu Ying, spokesperson for the annual session of the National People's Congress, said at a press conference.

The country is also willing to be a reformer of the existing global governance mechanism and has put forward its own proposals, she said.

China has taken an active part in international affairs, such as pushing forward the Belt and Road Initiative and hosting a Belt and Road forum for international cooperation in May this year, initiating the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and approving the Paris agreement on climate change, Fu said.

As a developing country, China's function and role in the international community should be in line with the common thinking of developing economies, she added. Endi
