British shares edge down on Friday

British shares went down on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down 0.11 percent, or 8.09 points, to close at 7,374.26 points.

International investment, insurance and banking group Old Mutual gained 1.81 percent, becoming the top gainer of the blue chips.

Standard Life rose 1.75 percent. Irish building materials group CRH went up by 1.58 percent.

British multinational advertising and public relations company WPP topped the winners of the blue chips by soaring 7.95 percent.

Precious metals miner Fresnillo gained 2.89 percent. Hikma Pharmaceuticals went up 2.7 percent. Endit
