Xinhua, March 3, 2017 Adjust font size:

The jobless rate in the 19-country eurozone remained unchanged at 9.6 percent in January, official data showed Thursday.

The reading stood stable month on month but was lower than the 10.4 percent one year ago, said Eurostat, the statistics agency of the European Union (EU), adding that the figure remained the lowest rate recorded in the single currency zone since May 2009.

In the wider 28-country EU, the unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in January, down from 8.2 percent in December 2016 and from 8.9 percent in January 2016, marking the lowest rate recorded in the bloc since January 2009, said the agency. Endit
