German shares close flat Thursday

German stocks closed almost flat on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index down merely 0.06 percent, or 7.62 points, to close at 12059.57 points.

German maker of sportswear and equipment Adidas gained 1.28 percent, becoming the top winner among the blue chips.

Merck KGaA, German company engaged in the pharmaceutical industry, advanced 1.01 percent. Energy group RWE went up by 0.76 percent.

German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost 1.71 percent, the top loser among the blue chips. Deutsche Telekom dropped 1.18 percent. Linde AG, a multinational chemical firm, went down 1.15 percent.

Chemical group BASF was the most traded share of the day, with a turnover of 261.61 million euros (275.05 million U.S. dollars). Endit
