Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau seizes 1 kg heroin

Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Wednesday seized around 1 kilogram of heroin with total estimated street value of over 68,000 Singapore dollars (48,260 U.S. dollars).
Four suspected drug offenders were arrested in Wednesday's operation.
The authority said CNB officers were deployed at the vicinity of an industrial building in northeast Singapore to conduct observation on suspected illegal drug activities at about 4:20 a.m.
They spotted a 48-year-old Malaysian male and 45-year-old Malaysian female arriving at the industrial building by motorcycle.
At about 6 a.m., a 52-year-old Singaporean male was seen arriving at the industrial building in a car, together with his 29-year-old suspected associate.
According to CNB's press release, two packets of heroin, weighing approximately 0.9 kg, were found in the car, and a search of the 52-year-old's unit also revealed approximately 48 grams of heroin.
In addition, over 8,000 Singapore dollars (5,678 U.S. dollars) in cash was recovered from the 48-year-old Malaysian.
CNB said that investigations into the drug activities of the four suspects were ongoing.
The Misuse of Drugs Act provides for the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine (pure heroin) trafficked exceeds 15 grams. (1 Singapore dollar = 0.71 U.S. dollar) Endit
