Two police officers injured in shooting in Houston, Texas

Xinhua, March 1, 2017 Adjust font size:

Two police officers were injured Tuesday, one of them in serious condition, as they traded gunfire with suspects during a home burglary in the fourth largest U.S. city of Houston.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said the shooting happened when police officers responded to a home burglary in a southwestern neighborhood.

He said two of the police officers jumped the fence and went into a backyard to clear the suspicious storage shed when a male Hispanic suspect opened the door, came out and opened fire at police officers who were able to return fire.

The first suspect was shot dead at the scene and the second person, a Hispanic man dressed in black and with a blue bandanna, fled and remains at large.

The police are searching for the runaway suspect. Endi
