The petrochemical and shipbuilding industries as well as small and medium-sized enterprises are priorities for the Primorsky territory in Russia's Far East, an official said Tuesday.
"We are implementing many major federal projects, for example the Eastern Petrochemical Company project, the Zvezda shipyard project," Primorsky Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky told the TASS news agency at an investment forum in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi.
Miklushevsky also said that the Primorsky region needed to develop its infrastructure in order to facilitate the implementation of major investment projects.
The major infrastructure objects included international transport corridors "Primorye-1" and "Primorye-2," which link Primorsky and Northeast China.
"We need it and our great neighbor -- China also needs it," he said.
Another engine for the region's development was a new law allowing Russian citizens to own, free of charge, 1 hectare of land in the Russian Far East for up to five years, said Miklushevsky. Endi
