New Albanian hydro-power plants producing electricity

Some 38 new small hydro-power plants (HPPs) started energy production for the first time during 2016 in Albania, data published by the Albanian Energy Regulatory Entity showed Monday.

Albania's hydropower sector has seen a significant development in recent years as the HPPs started producing in 2016 while the number of small hydropower plants reached 138, the report showed.

Total energy production increased along with the increased number of small hydropower plants given that domestic production of electric energy during 2016 amounted to 7.2 billion kWh, the agency said.

Experts said that there are an increasing number of companies that are investing in the energy sector considering the renewable energy market safe. Enditem
