Ghanaian president swears in advisory body

Xinhua, February 28, 2017 Adjust font size:

Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday swore in office a 24-member advisory body, charging them to be proactive partners in efforts to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

The Council of State is a body mandated to counsel the president in the performance of his functions during his tenure.

The membership includes 13 nominees by the President and 10 elected regional representatives.

President Akufo-Addo said he looked forward to a vigorous exchange of ideas between his government and the advisory team.

"It is my fervent hope that, together, we can realize the dream of the founders," he said, urging the Council members to offer straight forward advice based on unvarnished truth.

Nana Akufo-Addo said there was a lot of work awaiting the Council and therefore urged them to meet quite often so as to get government machinery running. Endit
