A bunch of young Chinese athletes have caught a lot of attention at the ongoing eighth Winter Asian Games, and these rising stars, with their great potential, will bring new vigor and vitality into the Asian winter sports.

1. Han Mei (19, speed skating)

Han concluded her first Winter Asiad with a silver and a bronze. She helped her team win a bronze in the women's six-lap team pursuit. In the women's 5,000 meters a day later, she delivered her personal best in competing against South Korea's Kim Bo-Reum and won a silver.

2. Gao Tingyu (19, speed skating)

Gao gave the spectators a nice surprise on Day One of speed skating at the Winter Asiad by winning a gold in the men's 500 meters.

He has made a lot of progress recent years and placed the second in the men's 500 meters at the first stand of World Cup Speed Skating 2016-2017.

3. Zang Yize (17, short-track speed skating)

Zang, who claimed the women's 500 meters in short-track speed skating at both the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games and the recent Winter Universiad, won a gold in the event again at the Winter Asiad.

She also helped China get a silver in the women's relay at Sapporo.

4. Guo Yihan (21, short-track speed skating)

Guo, also a champion at the Winter Universiad, got a bronze in the women's 1,500 meters at the Winter Asiad, and a silver with her teammates in women's 3,000 relay. She was also the only Chinese who made the final and placed the fourth in women's 1,000 meters.

5. Ren Ziwei (19, short-track speed skating)

Ren was a champion at the Shanghai Stand of the 2015 World Cup. He placed the fourth in men's 1,500 meters at the Winter Asiad, and along with Han Tianyu, Wu Dajing and Xu Hongzhi, defeated South Korea to claim the men's 5,000 meters relay at Sapporo.
