UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will be in Geneva next Monday, where he will speak at the opening session of the UN Human Rights Council in his first address to the body since taking office on Jan. 1, a UN spokesman announced here Thursday.

"The secretary-general will also visit the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross, where he will meet its president, Peter Maurer," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a daily news briefing here.

The secretary-general, who was the former prime minister of Portugal and the head of the UN refugee agency, will return to New York on Monday evening.
