British shares lose Thursday

British shares dropped on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.42 percent, or 30.88 points, to close at 7,271.37 points.

British shopping center owner Intu Properties soared 6.75 percent, becoming the top gainer of the blue chips, after hiking its full-year dividend for the first time in five years.

RSA Insurance advanced 4.85 percent. Paper and packaging giant Mondi rose 2.78 percent.

Britain's domestic energy provider Centrica was the top blue-chip loser of the day, by shedding 3.68 percent.

Irish building materials group CRH lost 3.27 percent. Mining company Antofagasta went down 3.11 percent, and another mining firm Anglo American was down 3.02 percent. Endit
