Spanish shares edge up slightly

Spanish shares edged up slightly on Thursday, with the benchmark Ibex-35 index up 0.17 percent to close at 9,493.40 points.

Spanish multinational retailer of food DIA Group advanced 2.69 percent, making it the top winner among the blue chips.

Iberdrola, Spain's multinational utility company, gained 2.5 percent. Telefonica, a broadband and telecom provider, rose 1.8 percent.

The top loser was banking group Banco Sabadell, whose shares lost 2.56 percent. Shares of steel producer ArcelorMittal were down 2.03 percent. Information technology and defense systems company Indra lost 1.86 percent.

Meanwhile, Spain's risk premium closed at 143 points from the 139 points of Wednesday. The 10-year bond interest rate closed at 1.71 percent from the 1.69-percent closing on Wednesday. Endit
