Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a goal for Manchester United before being replaced due to hamstring injury in a 1-0 road victory over Saint-Etienne in the second-leg of Europa League last 32 on Wednesday, bringing a 4-0 aggregate win for the Red Devils.
The Ligue 1 side suffered their third straight loss in all competitions, and the first during their last 11 home European ties.
Recording 3-0 at Old Trafford, Man United manager Jose Mourinho also dispatched a strong starting line-up, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, as the winner of the tournament will claim an automatic spot in Champions League.
The visitors built the lead 16 minutes into the game, as Mkhitaryan collected Juan Mata's pass from the left to poke the ball into their opponents' goal.
However, the Armenian midfielder's joy just lasted less than ten minutes, and he had to be substituted by Marcus Rashford due to injury.
The United were reduced to 10 men after their center-back Eric Bailly received two yellow cards in just three minutes, both on tackling Romain Hamouma.
Mourinho had to bench on another centre-back Marcus Rojo for Mata to build up their defense, while a four-goal advantage was sufficient to secure a berth in last 16 for the Red Devils.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Schalke had a 1-1 tie against PAOK and eliminated the latter on a 4-1 aggregate. Fenerbahce also drew 1-1 with Krasnodar, while crashing out with 2-1 on aggregate. Endit
