Hard-fought victory at ADO keeps Feyenoord streak intact

Dutch league leaders Feyenoord booked their 9th Eredivisie win in a row on Sunday to maintain a five-point margin with Ajax.
One week before the clash with reigning champions PSV in Rotterdam, Feyenoord far from impressed at the ADO Den Haag. Karim El Ahmadi broke the deadlock for Feyenoord in the Hague with a strike in the 62nd minute to secure a 1-0 win.
Also on Sunday, Ajax recorded a narrow victory as well, 1-0 over Vitesse in Arnhem. Ajax captain Davy Klaassen became match winner in the 26th minute on a cross by Amin Younes. Klaassen could have added another goal, but he missed a penalty in the second half.
PSV also had difficulties on Saturday against NEC in Eindhoven. Marco van Ginkel opened the scoring from the penalty spot, but Ali Messaoud equalized for the visitors. Bart Ramselaar and Luuk de Jong brought the 3-1 win and the three points in the second half.
The situation at the top of the table remained unchanged for the 6th match round in a row, with Feyenoord, Ajax and PSV all bagging their 6th consecutive win of 2017. Feyenoord now lead table with 60 points from 23 match rounds, followed by Ajax (55) and PSV (52).
FC Utrecht took over the fourth position from AZ by beating PEC Zwolle 3-1 on Saturday. AZ drew 1-1 at Willem II on Sunday, Sparta Rotterdam and FC Groningen drew 2-2 and FC Twente defeated sc Heerenveen 1-0. Endit
