Dineo downgraded to low pressure system

Xinhua, February 19, 2017 Adjust font size:

Namibia Meteorological Services has said the tropical cyclone Dineo has been downgraded to a low pressure system of moderate rainfall.

The cyclone that has left a trail of destruction in Mozambique where it reportedly killed seven people and was expected to land in Namibia Saturday has strong winds of about 24 kilometers per hour.

Namibia Meteorological Services deputy director Franz Uirab said in a statement Saturday that the country will now experience widespread rainfall between 60 to 80mm.

By Saturday, Uirab said the tropical depression had landed in the Omaheke region in the north and was felt in Kavango, the Zambezi and Otjozondjupa regions. Endit
