Eurozone construction production down by 0.2 pct in Dec.

Production of the construction sector in the 19-country eurozone fell by 0.2 percent from the previous month, official data revealed on Friday.

For the 28-nation European Union (EU), construction production rose by 0.6 percent in December, according to the EU statistics office Eurostat.

The decrease in the euro area is due to building construction falling by 0.5 percent, while civil engineering rose by 0.8 percent.

The gain in the 28-member bloc is due to building construction rising by 0.2 percent, and civil engineering rose rising 1.2 percent.

Among EU member states, the highest monthly decreases in production in construction were observed in Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria, and the highest increases in Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic and Britain. Endit
