Construction of Beijing's sub-center to speed up

The construction of Beijing's sub-center will accelerate this year, as much attention has been paid to the new center's ecological environment and public service facilities. Anzhen Hospital, the Renmin University of China (RUC) and the high school affiliated to it will set up new campuses in the city's eastern Tongzhou District.
Education: construction of four schools to commence
Beijing will commence four educational projects this year, one higher educational institute and three primary or middle schools. In addition to the above four key projects, the High School affiliated to RUC is still mulling over setting up a new campus in Tongzhou and will submit its possible preliminary design and planning this year. Huangchenggen Primary School, Beihai Kindergarten, among other high-quality schools and kindergartens in the city are also expected to have Tongzhou branches.
Medical: Anzhen Hospital to build new campus at end of year
Civil works for the Xinhua Hospital have been completed. The hospital is working on the interior decoration and is expected to be operational this year. Beijing Friendship Hospital will take over Xinhua Hospital for better management and medical services. Also setting up new branches in Tongzhou are the Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital and the Capital Institute of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital affiliated to it in order to accommodate the baby boom after the country relaxed restrictions on child bearing in addition to offering pediatric services to children living in the new administrative center and its adjacent areas.
Ecology: eight parks to be constructed or modified
Construction of new parks as well as the upgrades of existing ones will be accelerated this year. Constructions or modifications of eight parks, including Jianhe Park, Xihaizi Park, Bishui Park, Xixiaoma Park, Liyuan City Forest Park, will finish this year in addition to four additional public green spaces in Tongzhou District.
All streets in the new administrative center will also be lined with by newly planted trees. Also for better ecological environment are 33 projects to be supervised by Beijing Water Authority.
Culture: planning of Lucheng Relic Park to be finalized
More than 1,000 ancient tombs have been unearthed since February of last year, when archeological exploration started in Tongzhou at the future new administrative center. Hence, the ancient town of Lucheng County in the Han Dynasty began to reveal itself to the public. There will be a museum to accommodate relics unearthed during the construction of the new administrative center.
