Xinhua, February 16, 2017 Adjust font size:

Albania's State Police confirmed Wednesday the names of four men who were arrested as the main suspects of a 3.2 million U.S. dollar heist that took place last Thursday.

The head of the capital police Ervin Hodaj told reporters at a press conference that the four persons were all former military personnel, adding they were suspected of having committed two other armed robberies.

Two other persons are being searched by police on suspicion of being involved in this heist, media reported.

According to Hodaj, the police have all the necessary documents and evidence proving their involvement in this armed robbery.

The suspects stole money from a private bank's vehicle that was transporting the money to Tirana International Airport. The heist took place in the middle of the day.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko commended the state police for the immediate and fruitful operation to detain the suspects. Enditem
