Xinhua, February 14, 2017 Adjust font size:

A total of 47,008 new firms were registered last month in France, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent, official data revealed on Tuesday.

The growth was notably lower than in December, which stood at 2.6 percent, according to French national statistics bureau Insee.

In the fourth quarter of 2016, the number of new enterprises jumped by 7.7 percent year on year, which was mainly due to the contribution of transportation and storage in addition to accommodation and food services activities which grew by 30 percent and 13.7 percent respectively.

Insee also said two out of five new enterprises were self-managed over the last 12 months. Endit
