Beijing overwhelmed Xinjiang 91-77 to lead 2-0 in WCBA semifinals

Xinhua, February 14, 2017 Adjust font size:

Four players scored double-digits to help the defending champion Beijing beat Xinjiang 91-77 and lead the best-of-five series by 2-0 in the semifinals of Women's Chinese Basketball Association League (WCBA) on Tuesday.

In the duel between last season's champion and runner-up, Beijing easily gained upper hand over Xinjiang in the third quarter and ended up with a landslide victory. Xinjiang tried hard in the final quarter by 26-22 but that was not enough to turn the table.

Beijing's Shao Ting scored a game-high 20 points as she only played for 26 minute, her teammate Sylvia Fowles added 19 points and 14 rebounds.

In the other semifinal game between Shenbu and Bayi, Shenbu fought back after an 11-26 first quarter to win 88-71 over the opponent and tied to 1-1 at home. Shenbu's Liu Shuai, Li Meng and Jin Jiabao combined for 74 points and 20 rebounds, while Bayi's key player Sun Mengran only scored 13 points but made a team-high five errors.

The third round of the semifinals will be on Saturday. Beijing needs one more victory to secure a berth in the final. Endit
