Nigeria moves up in FIFA ranking

Xinhua, February 10, 2017 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's national team has moved up nine spots in the latest monthly ranking of the world's football governing body, FIFA, reaching the 41st spot from its 50th place last month.

The February ranking of FIFA posted on its official website Thursday indicated that Nigeria retained its 7th position in Africa, despite failing to qualify or play at the just concluded African Cup of Nations hosted by Gabon.

The continental competition was won by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, last Sunday.

The latest ranking showed that the Super Eagles, Nigeria's national team, garnered 686 points as against 619 it had in January. Endit
