Moving car explodes in Serbia, three injured

Three people were injured here on Wednesday morning when a moving vehicle exploded in an incident media interpreted as an assassination attempt connected to drug trafficking.

Police confirmed in a press release that a car exploded at the Vozdovac municipality of Belgrade.

Two people, a 36-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman who were driving by at the moment of the explosion received light injuries, while the 38-year-old driver of the car that exploded got heavy injuries.

Several surrounding cars were also damaged.

RTS, Serbia's national broadcaster, reported that the driver was rescued this morning from a flaming car by two young men and was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle prior to the arrival of the police.

Daily Blic newspaper suggested that the injured man was a target of an alleged assassination due to his involvement in drug sales, and already survived two assassinations in the past. Enditem
