British shares gain on Tuesday

British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.20 percent, or 14.07 points, to close at 7,186.22 points.

Shares of DCC Energy jumped 5.65 percent, becoming the top gainer of the blue chips.

Fresnillo rose 5.24 percent and Randgold Resources advanced 4.06 percent.

Energy giant BP PLC led the loser of the blue chips by losing 4.08 percent, after releasing disappointing financial figures. Endit
