Indonesia's exports of food and beverage products jumped to 19 billion U.S. dollars last year from 6.2 billion dollars in 2015, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto said Tuesday.

"We must keep maintaining this food and beverage industry so that it can develop and address challenges," Hartarto said.

Foreign direct investment in the industry sector reached 1.6 billion U.S. dollars last year, he said.

Food and beverage industry is estimated to grow 6.2 to 8.5 percent this year, according to the country's food and beverage association, as rising global prices of agricultural commodities contribute to the growth.
