Bulgarian consumer confidence rises by 2.5 pct in January

The total consumer confidence indicator Bulgaria in January increased by 2.5 percentage points compared with October 2016, the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Tuesday.
According to the quarterly survey, consumer confidence of the urban population rose by 3.3 percentage points, while confidence of the rural population rose by 0.6 percentage points.
Consumers' total assessments about the development of the economic situation in Bulgaria over the last 12 months increased by 1.4 percent, and their forecasts for the next 12 months were less negative compared to the previous survey, the NSI said.
Meanwhile, the survey reported an improvement of the total assessment of the conditions for saving in the present economic situation in the country, as well as a certain positive change in consumers' expectations over the next 12 months, the NSI said. Endit
