Vietnam to compete at Asian Winter Games for first time

Vietnam will, for the first time, attend an Asian Winter Games, the eight edition slated for Feb 19-27 in Japan, the Vietnamese General Department of Sports and Physical Training said Monday.

The six Vietnamese athletes will compete in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding.

At the Asian Winter Games 2017, athletes from 30 Asian countries and regions will vie for medals over 11 winter sports including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding, figure skating, short-track speed skating, speed skating, hockey, curling and biathlon.
