Indonesia eyes victory in Asian mixed team badminton championship

Xinhua, February 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Badminton powerhouse Indonesia is upbeat over target of group champion in the Asian mixed team championship this month in Vietnam.

"Our target is the champion of the group first. Step by step," said Lius Pongoh, manager of the Indonesian team, in the country's badminton association website, Indonesiabadminton.org.

Indonesia is in Group B along with Malaysia and Sri Langka.

The manager was optimistic Indonesian players can champion the group.

A total of 13 countries and regions to take part in the championship scheduled from Feb. 14-19 in Ho Chi Minh city.

Indonesia plans to send young shuttlers to the Asian mixed team championship in Vietnam, according to Lius.

"If we see the capability of the players, the minimal target is entering the semifinals, but we want to be champion," he added. Enditem
