The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Sunday.

-- Zambia's Constitutional Court has set February 21 as the date to hear a petition by four small opposition political parties seeking a declaration that Zambian President Edgar Lungu was eligible to contest the 2021 general elections.

The opposition parties contended that Lungu's election during the January 20, 2015 election, which expired on August 11, 2016, does not constitute a term of office under the country's constitution.

A debate has emerged in Zambia's following Lungu's announcement that he will seek re-election in 2021. (Times of Zambia)

-- Police in Zambia's Mpongwe district in Copperbelt Province have intercepted 400 bags of fertilizer meant for a government subsidized farmer input program and arrested five people.

The fertilizer meant for distribution under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) to small-scale farmers had government labels and was destined for neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) when it was intercepted. (Zambia Daily Mail)
