European Defense Agency discusses ammunition classification with industry

Xinhua, February 2, 2017 Adjust font size:

The European Defense Agency (EDA) and defense industry representatives gathered to exchange views on the topic of ammunition classification, the agency said Thursday.

Hosted by Nexter Munitions, a French government-owned weapons manufacturer, the meeting brought together defense experts of EDA member states, as well as representatives from Aerospace, BAE Systems Land and the Defense Industries Association of Europe.

The discussions focused on specific complex ammunition categories, such as smoke ammunition. It helped in establishing a common understanding between governmental and industrial experts on the complexities of specific categories of ammunition.

A common position could serve as a supportive reference for the defense industry when classifying specific ammunition categories in the future, EDA said. Endit
