San Francisco International Airport said Sunday afternoon the last person detained at the airport, known as SFO, was released.
In a Twitter social network posting, SFO quoted local U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as the source for the status of the foreign nationals held at the airport since Saturday morning.
Earlier Sunday, the same SFO Twitter account said the local CBP has advised 4 individuals that were detained under an executive order from U.S. President Donald Trump had been released, and the 5th and final individual was "still being processed."
However, there has been no direct confirmation from the CBP, a federal agency as part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The identities of those released were not available.
In an executive order signed Friday, Trump initiated a temporary ban on the entry of citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries, including Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Some immigrants flew into the United States since have been held at airports since Saturday morning.
Labeling the executive order as "Muslim ban," protesters have demonstrated since Saturday at airports in at least nine U.S. cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Denver, to demand release of the immigrants. Enditem
