Lebanon applies U.S. travel ban

A Syrian family has returned to Beirut after being denied entry to the United States as part of a travel ban enacted by U.S. President Donald Trump, the National News Agency (NNA) reported Sunday.

The incident comes hours after airlines operating at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport began implementing a travel ban to the United States for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries.

President Donald Trump recently ordered a four-month freeze on refugee travel into the United States and temporarily barred travelers from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the U.S..

Paris airport authorities on Saturday night forced a Syrian family of three flying from Beirut to Atlanta through Paris to return to Lebanon.

The family had traveled to Paris on a Lebanese airliner and was to board another flight from Paris to Atlanta.

Five Iraqi passengers and one Yemeni were also barred from boarding an EgyptAir flight from Cairo to New York Saturday. Endit
